The Pearl River-West River economic belt stretches across Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan,Guizhou, Hong Kong and Macao, and plays an important role in China's regional development and the cooperation with the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations). The economic belt covers Guangdong province's Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing and Yunfu and seven cities of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including Nanning, Liuzhou, Wuzhou, Guigang, Baise, Laibin and Chongzuo.

According to the development planning of the Pearl River-West River economic belt, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces will jointly promote major infrastructure construction, build ecological corridors from the Pearl River to West River, promote coordinated development of industries such as industry, modern service industry and modern agriculture, build a diversified urban system along the Yangtze River, promote the integration of public services and establish a new area for cooperation.
