The Xining Economic and Technological Development Zone was approved by the State Council and established as a national-level development zone in July 2000.
Xining ETDZ consists of Dongchuan Industrial Park, Ganhe Industrial Park, Nanchuan Industrial Park, and Biotechnological Industrial Park. It is only 5 kilometers away from downtown Xining, 4 kilometers from the railway station and 12 kilometers from the Caojiapu International Airport.
Xining has a rich reserve of minerals such as coal, jade, limestone, quartzite, dolomite, plaster stone, and mica. Meanwhile, Qinghai province has the nation's largest reserve of sylvite, magnesite, lithium, natural sulphur, silica and asbestos.
Taking advantage of its abundant natural resources, the zone has built several relatively complete industrial chains of lithium battery, photovoltaic industry, and Tibetan cashmere textile industry. It also develops the nonferrous metal alloys, optoelectronic information materials, and characteristic chemical industries of PVC, methanol, anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and carbon fiber.
Xining ETDZ will vigorously develop emerging industries of photovoltaic and energy storage, accelerate the construction of energy internet, build an important manufacturing base for clean energy in China, and strive to build two 100-billion-level industrial bases of lithium battery and photovoltaic.
