The Ankang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone is a national-level high-tech zone approved by the State Council in September 2015. It has a planned area of 120 square kilometers and a population of 450,000.The six leading industries of the zone are: electronic information, new materials, biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, selenium-rich biology and modern services. Ankang high-tech zone has built six specialized industrial parks, including the Enclave Economy Industrial Park, Intelligent Terminal Industrial Park, Northwest Electronic Information R&D and Production Base, New Materials Industrial Park, Biomedical Industrial Park, and Modern Selenium-rich Industrial Park, which have become the core engine of driving the industrial agglomeration of the city. The zone has introduced more than 1,000 projects and over 600 enterprises of various types. Well-known enterprises include Sany Heavy Industry Co Ltd, Shaanxi Huayin Technology Co Ltd, Pride Elevator Co Ltd, Shaanxi Kanghui Communication Co Ltd, Shaanxi Nanshui Auto Parts Manufacturing Co Ltd, and Shaanxi Rongshi Food Co Ltd.Since its establishment, the average annual growth of its regional GDP has reached 28.9 percent, the average annual growth of its output value of industrial enterprises above designated size is 31.9 percent, and the average annual growth of the total import and export volume has hit 58.1 percent. The growth rate of major economic indicators in the zone have consistently led Ankang city.
