The inaugural Kunming Flower International Forum, hosted by the Kunming government, was held in Jinning district on Sept 8, with the theme of “The Kunming International Exchange Conference on the Green and High-quality Development of the Flower Industry”. It gathered government representatives, flower entrepreneurs, experts and scholars to discuss the development of and cooperation in the flower industry.
As the world's second-largest fresh-cut flower trading hub, Kunming is currently driving the integrated development of its flower industry chain, leveraging technology, culture, digitalization, and branding to boost the Kunming flower industry.
Wan Hong, the Party secretary of Jinning district, expressed his hope that the forum could help achieve more extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions to promote international cooperation and exchanges in the industry.
Shi Wenjie, deputy head of the Office for the Advancement of the Flower Industry Chain in Kunming, said that the floral industry in Kunming has undergone over 40 years of development and has become a prominent industry in Yunnan and even throughout China. She sincerely hopes that entrepreneurs and friends from both domestic and international sectors will wholeheartedly join and contribute to the beautiful cause of Kunming's floral development. She emphasized their commitment to providing comprehensive, multi-level, and high-quality services and logistical support to enterprises and traders.
The President of the Netherlands-Holland Chamber of Commerce shared his insight on the development of the Dutch floral industry and what is most attractive to foreign investors during the investment process.
They emphasized that when businesses choose an investment destination, they consider various factors, but the stability of government policies is of paramount importance, often being the primary consideration for businesses. They also highlighted the chamber's collaboration with local governments to assist every foreign investment enterprise in achieving success.
Representatives from Japanese flower companies shared their stories and experiences with Kunming flowers. One representative said, "I have been working in the flower industry for 32 years in Japan and Europe, traveling all over the world in search of flowers. The global floral landscape is constantly changing, and today's international forum aims to look toward the future. I hope that through today's forum, we can work together towards the day when flower culture blooms and flourishes."
As part of the event, to support the promotion, investment attraction, and international publicity of Kunming's floral industry, Zhang Xiaoming, head of the Office of Foreign Affairs of Kunming, released a special overseas edition of Kunming's flower magazine.
In the afternoon, the representatives visited the International Flower Comprehensive Logistics Center in Jinning and the Yuntianhua Jinning Flower Industry Modern Demonstration Park to have a firsthand experience of the development of Jinning’s flower industry.
