Themed "New Frontiers of Future Growth", the 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, concluded on June 27 in Dalian, Liaoning province.
The closing ceremony featured prominent attendees, including Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, and Xia Deren, member of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Mirek Dusek, managing director at the World Economic Forum, presided over the ceremony. The event also welcomed city leaders and representatives from political, business, and academic circles, as well as international organizations.
Chen Shaowang, mayor of Dalian and deputy secretary of the Dalian Municipal Party Committee, highlighted that over the past three days, more than 1,700 guests from around the world gathered to discuss the sustainable development of the global economy under the theme "New Frontiers of Future Growth".
Chen emphasized that Dalian will leverage the success of this forum to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces, explore diverse fields for growth, and create new momentum and advantages for development. The city aspires to lead in revitalizing Northeast China in the new era, fostering win-win cooperation opportunities.
Chen also shared insights from Premier Li Qiang's speech at the forum, highlighting three key themes: recognizing the current challenges in global economic growth, seizing new opportunities in the scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, and exploring avenues for future economic development.
Chen stressed Premier Li’s four initiatives: deepening scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, building a foundation for green development, maintaining an open market environment, and promoting inclusive development. Premier Li firmly expressed China's vision and expectation of working with other countries to create a better future for humanity.
Zhu Peng, vice-mayor of Tianjin, congratulated the successful conclusion of the 2024 Summer Davos Forum. He expressed appreciation for the warmth, beauty, vitality, and charm of the city, and noted valuable lessons learned from Dalian's effective hosting of the forum.
Zhu highlighted Tianjin and Dalian as coastal cities on the Bohai Sea, blending Chinese and Western, ancient and modern urban styles. He emphasized their close partnership with the World Economic Forum, having jointly hosted seven Annual Meetings of the New Champions, fostering friendships, promoting development, and achieving mutual benefits.
