The 8th International Symposium on Persimmon Academic and the 1st China Persimmon Industry High-Quality Development Conference were held on Friday in Tianxi Agricultural Industrial Park, Fuping county, Shaanxi province in Northwest China.
The event was organized by the International Society for Horticultural Science, the Chinese Society for Horticultural Science and the Persimmon Branch of the China Fruit Marketing Association, with the China Persimmon Industry Alliance hosting.
Leading experts, scholars and industry leaders from across China and from countries including Australia, Italy, Japan and South Korea convened in Fuping to discuss the future of the persimmon industry. The gathering included representatives from major persimmon producing areas - including Shaanxi, Hebei , Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Pingle county and Gongcheng Yao autonomous county of Guangxi – who are working together to promote the high-quality development of China's persimmon industry.
Han Zhenhai, vice-chairman of the Chinese Society for Horticultural Science and a professor at China Agricultural University, said the conference served as both a thorough review of the persimmon industry’s development and a pivotal moment for advancing its high-quality growth in the country. This is a time of major significance for the industry, he added.

The company is aiming to drive agricultural industrialization, establish a national persimmon industry alliance, and connect seven key production areas. By leveraging AI and other technologies, Tianxi Agriculture seeks to empower the industry, he said. The China Persimmon Industry Alliance and the Qianzhan Industrial Research Institute unveiled the "2024 White Paper on the Development of China's Persimmon Industry" during the conference.
The white paper offers valuable insights into the current state of China's persimmon industry and explores the challenges and strategies for driving industrial innovation through new quality productive forces. It will serve as a key reference for policy-making, industrial planning and research directions in major persimmon-producing regions nationwide.

Organizers also arranged for domestic and foreign persimmon experts to visit the world-class Tianxi Agricultural Industrial Park. The visit aimed to showcase Tianxi Agriculture's innovative practices in boosting Fuping's persimmon industry toward a target output value of 10 billion yuan ($1.41 billion), as well as to explore the traditional and modern processes of Fuping persimmon cake making and experience the cultural and industrial charm of Fuping’s persimmons.
