Dalian Port's Ro-Ro business for commercial vehicles powers new growth

Recently, the roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessel Meijing, with 1,200 Chinese-made cars on board under the supervision of Dayaowan Customs, set sail from Dalian vehicle export terminal for Mexico.

Since the upgrade of customs supervision facilities in May this year, Dalian Port has streamlined the export process for domestic commercial vehicle, providing a convenient and efficient logistics channel for "Made in China" cars to reach global markets.

As a key gateway for the Northeast China’s auto exports, Dalian vehicle export terminal has leveraged local industrial advantages to actively build a global sea-land service network for commercial vehicles. By deepening customs-port collaboration, the terminal continuously optimizes the logistics chain, supporting brands such as FAW, Brilliance BMW, and Chery in accessing international markets.

Focusing on enterprise needs, Dalian Customs has identifiedbottlenecks in export clearance and implemented facilitation measures such as supervision facility upgrades, as well as "pre-declaration" and "direct loading upon arrival" policies. These initiatives enable seamless integration of vehicle gathering, inspection, and loading processes, significantly reducing overall clearance time.

Closer customs-port cooperation has activated new momentum for business development. Since the beginning of this year, Dalian Port has launched new shipping routes to regions including South Africa, the Mediterranean, and Mexico, while expanding specialized services such as commercial vehicle transshipment and Ro-Ro exports of heavy equipment. These efforts have fostered new business models such as near-port foreign trade vehicle logistics and offshore-to-berth Ro-Ro operations.

As the hub of the Northeast land-sea corridor for commercial vehicles, Dalian continues to enhance its operational efficiency, opening vital channels for regional economic growth and strengthening the global competitiveness of "Made in China" in international industrial chains.
