Nineteen cultural, tourism, and commercial projects from a riverside scenic area will debut at the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), set to open on Wednesday.

These projects are located near a former steel mill transformed for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, and are part of one of the city's largest tourism and cultural projects. The "Twin Parks and One River" area, which spans 92.5 square kilometers, includes Shougang Park and Beijing Garden Expo Park. They are connected by the Yongding River.

The region fosters coordinated development between the Shijingshan, Mentougou, and Fengtai districts. It aims to create a river-lake space where humanity and nature coexist, serving as a core component of the Western Hills-Yongding River Cultural Belt.

The area is being positioned as a waterfront destination that integrates water features with urban vitality and acts as a new engine for high-quality development in western Beijing.

Earlier this month, a train and a ferry service linking Beijing Garden Expo Park and a bank along the Yongding River began service.

Ahead of the trade fair's opening, an upgraded version of the Yongding Riverside Market began operations on Sept 7, following its initial launch in September 2025.
