Synopsys Technology, a world-famous software company headquartered in Silicon Valley, is building a global R&D industrial park at the Future City in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), central China’s Hubei province.
This is the first time Synopsys has bought land and built an industrial park in places outside the United States, according to Yang Guoliang, a senior security architect of the company.
In 2012, Synopsys and Wuhan Municipal Government reached an agreement, to set up an R&D and technical support center in Optics Valley of China.
The center was established in 2013 and became a global software R&D center, currently possessing more than 200 staff members, and 90 percent of them are R&D engineers, with an average age under 30.
Consisting of two R&D buildings and a building providing supporting facilities, the industrial park under construction is adjacent to the Wuhan base for Huawei, a leading information and communications technology company in the country.
Yang said that Wuhan has become an important place for the development of China’s integrated circuit (IC) industry, following establishment of many major projects such as the National Memory Base.
The industrial park is expected to be put in operation at the end of 2019, with focus on R&D of IC, design tools and software security, with number of staff members increasing to 500.
