A 70,000-sq-m (17-acre) Philips (Zhuhai) New Industrial Campus will be built in Sanzao Town's Dingjianwan Industrial Park as a strategic plant that will create high-end projects from Royal Philips of the Netherlands.
A cooperation agreement was signed between the People's Government of Sanzao Town and Philips Domestic Alliance & Personal Care Co of Zhuhai SEZ Ltd on Oct 16 following yearlong negotiations.
The Phillips subsidiary is a wholly foreign-owned enterprise engaged in the high-end manufacturing of personal healthcare items such as electric razors, toothbrushes, and maternal-child care products. The company achieved an output value of 3.2 billion yuan ($461 million) in 2017.
The Zhuhai arm already has a 40,000-sq-m plant on Qinshi Road, Sanzao Town, having settled in Zhuhai in 1990 and begun operations in 1998. It has no room for more production lines despite a soaring demand for electric toothbrushes and other personal-care products.
The new campus has a construction area of 88,000 sq m (21.7 acres) for plants and annexes and features a floor-to-area ratio of 2.0.
