Huaian National Economic and Technological Development Zone

Huaian National Economic and Technological Development Zone, whose predecessor was Huaian Economic Zone set up in 1992, was upgraded to provincial level in 1996. In July 2012, the zone became a national-level development zone approved by the State Council.

The zone now has seven distinctive industries: high-end equipment manufacturing, automobiles and auto parts, solar photovoltaic, modern textiles, modern commerce and logistics, software and service outsourcing, and high-end furniture. It also has several provincial-level industrial parks for industries such as electronic equipment, solar photovoltaic and auto parts.

In the first seven months of 2018, construction started on the zone on 29 projects, each worth over 10 million yuan ($1.48 million), and the revenue from public budgets of the area climbed by 11.15 percent year-on-year.
