Approved by the State Council, the Binhai New Area Integrated Free Trade Zone was founded in 2008, covering a planned area of more than 1.95 square kilometers. The zone, managed by the administrative committee of Tianjin Port Free Trade zone, provides bonded warehousing, logistics and export processing services, and is one ofChina's special customs supervision areas featuring preferential policies, high openness and diverse functions.

The Binhai New Area free trade zone has not only promoted the installation of the Airbus A320 family final assembly line, but also plays an important role in attracting aviation projects to Tianjin and developing the city's airport international logistics.

Last year, the General Administration of Customs approved the operation of the zone's second phase which covers an area of nearly 0.5 square kilometers.
