New measures to strengthen the ties between Nantong and Taiwan have been put into effect in the coastal city of East China’s Jiangsu province on Feb 14.
The measures comprised of 50 articles cover fives aspects: economic cooperation, introduction of skilled workers, employment and startups, cultural exchange and daily life, with the aim of making Taiwan residents feel at home in Nantong.
According to the measures, Taiwan residents who work in the city can enjoy the same social security benefits as locals and then withdraw the unused housing fund when they leave the mainland.
Those aged over 65 can take buses and visit local scenic spots for free.
The city also offers subsidies to attract investment and professionals from Taiwan, including 20 million yuan ($2.95 million) for upgrading of intelligent technology, 5 million yuan for startups and 1.5 million yuan for house purchases.
Nantong has maintained a close relationship with Taiwan, having more than 2,000 Taiwan-funded projects in the city by the end of 2018.
It has been the host city of Taiwan Enterprises Industrial Transformation and Upgrading Summit for seven consecutive years, enjoying a soaring profile among Taiwan businesses.
