The financial industry is one of the four pillar industries of Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

In the first three quarters of 2019, Shenzhen's financial sector realized an added value of 243.08 billion yuan ($34.99 billion), accounting for 13.0% of GDP in the same period. As for the securities sector, the combined assets of Shenzhen’s 22 securities companies were 1.63 trillion yuan, ranking first in the country.

The total market value of Shenzhen Stock Exchange came in at 23.7 trillion yuan last year, the exchange said.

Shenzhen’s financial areas include the Futian district, Luohu district and Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone which is going to be a demonstration area for the opening up of China’s financial industry with comprehensive fin-tech ecosystem.

According to the latest Global Financial Centers Index released in September 2019, Shenzhen ranked ninth among 104 financial centers worldwide.
