Intelligent manufacturing

China has built more than 200 intelligent digitalized factories and become the biggest intelligent manufacturing market in the world, according to a report by the World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit.

China's intelligent manufacturing market will exceed 220 billion yuan ($31.8 billion) by the end of 2020, said the report. It’s clear that as an important driving force of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, intelligent manufacturing is in full swing in China.

Intelligent manufacturing has pushed forward overall systematic transformation of the traditional modes of production and organization, and promoted reengineering of industrial chains and upgrading of value chains, said Zhang Liqun, a researcher with the Development Research Center of the State Council.

Intelligent manufacturing is also fueling the boom of new technologies, new products and new business models, and driving the rapid growth of new industries, Zhang said.

China has set targets for establishing a supporting system for intelligent manufacturing and realizing intelligent transformation in its key industries by 2025.

Marine engineering equipment manufacturing

Marine engineering equipment manufacturing is among the important fields defined by Made in China 2025. The country aims to make its high-end products, such as offshore oil and gas production platforms, more internationally competitive by the end of 2020. By that time, it wants the development and application of emerging equipment, including offshore wind power instruments, marine fishery equipment and submarine mineral development equipment, to have achieved significant progress.

Rail transit equipment manufacturing

Experts say that rail transit equipment is an important representative of China's advanced exported equipment. Advanced modern technological rail instrumentation consists of networked equipment used in transport, communication signaling and operational control in trunk, regional and urban rail transit.

They add that by the end of 2020 the country's R&D capabilities and leading rail transit products will reach a globally leading level and its overseas business will account for 30 percent of activity in that sector. By the end of 2025, its rail transit equipment manufacturing will have a well-established and sustainable innovation system and 40 percent of the manufacturing will be related to overseas participation.

Aviation equipment manufacturing

Aviation equipment covers aircraft, including their engines, equipment and systems. With increasing use of aviation transportation and demands on general aviation services, the aviation equipment manufacturing industry has huge market potential.

After effort spanning decades China has put in place a complete aviation technical system, a product spectrum and an industrial system, and has released military-use aircraft including the J-15, J-20, Y-20 and CAIC Z-10, and civil aircraft including the Xinzhou series, ARJ21 regional aircraft and the C919 large trunk route liner. Additionally, China has been making progress with small unmanned aerial vehicles and navigable aircraft.

Key priorities for the aviation manufacturing industry before 2025:

I. Aircraft industry: trunk route liners, regional aircraft, general aircraft and helicopters;

II. Aviation engine industry: high bypass ratio turbofan engines, medium bypass ratio small-and-medium turbofan engines, medium power turbo shaft engines and their transmission systems, high power turboprop engines, and aviation piston engines;

III. Aviation airborne equipment and system industry: avionics systems, flight control systems, electromechanical systems, and aviation materials and components.
