Global leading clinical research organization Parexel on July 2 signed an agreement to set up its clinical trial supplies and logistics distribution center in Suzhou New District.
The facility, which will be Parexel's first clinical trial service operation center in China, will contribute to the company's supply chain network, which consists of three storage centers, three coordination hubs and distribution centers around the world, according to executives.
With a total investment of 20 million yuan ($3.09 million), the center will provide clinical trial and drug supply chain support to global and local biopharmaceutical companies, as well as import and export services.
Parexel has been a major contributor to the development of the Chinese pharmaceutical sector. It currently hires thousands of employees who work in hundreds of pharmaceutical companies in China, and has supported more than 170 clinical trial projects in the past five years, said Xu Weijun, vice-president of Parexel.
The new center in SND will not only serve the clinical trials of pharmaceutical companies in China, but also accelerate the internationalization of Chinese pharmaceutical companies by establishing a pharmaceutical supply chain in line with the standards of the Food and Drug Administration and the European Union, Xu added.
Parexel is one of the biggest clinical research organizations in the Asia-Pacific.
