China's installed capacity of renewable energy power generation has reached 1 billion kilowatts by the end of October, which doubled the figure at the end of 2015, the National Energy Administration said on Saturday.

It accounts for 43.5 percent of the country's total power installation, 10.2 percentage points higher than that in 2015, it said.

The installed hydropower capacity stood at 385 million kilowatts, and the installed wind power capacity surged 30.4 percent year-on-year to 299 million kilowatts, while solar power capacity rose 23.7 percent to 282 million kilowatts, all of which have ranked first worldwide, said the administration.

Eyeing to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, China is promoting green and clean energy amid its transition to a low-carbon economy.

The proportion of coal in China's total energy consumption dropped from 72.4 percent in 2005 to 56.8 percent in 2020.
