A total of 54 postdoctoral projects, with an intended cooperation amount worth 1.13 billion yuan ($180 million), have been signed during a postdoctoral innovation and entrepreneurship competition, according to organizers.
The First China Postdoctoral Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, the largest of its kind in scale, concluded on Monday in Foshan, Guangdong province, an economic powerhouse in South China.
Additionally, more than 3,200 job applications have been submitted as organizers have collected over 8,000 postdoctoral posts during the event.
Postdoctoral groups have become a main force of scientific and technological innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, leading the exploration of cutting-edge technology in various fields, according to Chen Min, Party chief of the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province.
"The signing of cooperation will effectively promote the transformation of postdoctoral technological projects, opening a new page for us to attract young high-level talents and boost science and technology development in Guangdong," Chen said.
