Rising demand by Chinese consumers last year for light medical beauty—an emerging trend for non-invasive cosmetic options— will drive companies' transformation for cost-effective products in 2022, a company executive said.
Jin Xing, chairman and CEO of medical aesthetics platform SoYoung Technology, said light medical beauty was definitely a key word in 2021 given the tremendous increase of consumers in this vertical sector.
The company's research institute said the non-surgical medical beauty market is developing rapidly as the proportion of users continued to increase from 72.6 percent of the total in 2019 to 83.1 percent last year.
"As the COVID-19 pandemic is under better control, the overall medical beauty sector is gradually recovering and even showed vigorous growth last year," he said.
Despite the pandemic, the market size of China's medical beauty market is expected to reach 184.6 billion yuan ($29.01 billion) last year, with an annual compound growth of more than 20 percent.
"To meet such demand, more efforts will also be made from the company to strengthen the retention, price and content to promote the sustainable and high-quality development of light medical beauty products," he added.
