Suzhou makes great strides in biomedicine industry

Suzhou New District (SND) in East China's Jiangsu province has been making great efforts over the past decade to advance its medical device and biomedicine industries.

SND on May 11 held an online ceremony which witnessed the signing of 10 projects worth 2.9 billion yuan ($430.65 million). These projects are expected to generate an annual output value of over 10 billion yuan.

The district is currently home to nearly 800 enterprises in the medical device and biomedical sectors, both of which have registered an average annual growth rate of over 30 percent in recent years.

The local government has been implementing a series of measures, including the promotion of industrial upgrading and ramping up services related to innovation, to drive further growth in the two sectors.
