Dozens of industrial exhibitions are scheduled to open in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, in February and March, aiming to boost trade and business activity, according to the local commerce authority.

A three-day national forest fire-fighting and emergency rescue equipment exhibition is scheduled to open on Wednesday in the city's Huadu district, attracting domestic and overseas makers of new products and technologies for fighting forest fires.

After the Fifth National Forest Fire-Fighting and Emergency Rescue Equipment Exhibition, the first event after the Spring Festival holiday, more than 50 exhibitions in the manufacturing industries for automobiles, furniture, medical treatment, industrial design, food and animation will be held in the city within the two months.

The Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce announced it will provide financial subsidies to create a safe exhibition environment for exhibitors.

In 2022, nearly 60 million yuan ($8.84 million) of financial support was given to exhibition enterprises in Guangzhou, which organized about 200 events against headwinds, such as lower demand in the international market and the resurgence of COVID-19.

The import and export volume of Guangzhou, a traditional trade hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, increased 1.1 percent year-on-year to 1.09 trillion yuan in 2022, according to local authorities.

An international beauty expo, with an exhibition area of more than 200,000 square meters, will be held from March 10 to 12. An international furniture expo, with an exhibition area of more than 500,000 square meters, is scheduled to open in two sessions in March, helping attract hundreds of international buyers from the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Poland and other places.

"Professional trade exhibitions help us better meet international buyers," said Yang Shan, chairman of Skymen Group, a Shenzhen company that makes ultrasonic cleaning products.
