Danish logistics, shipping and container giant Maersk held a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb 14 for its flagship 1 billion yuan ($145.98 million) integrated logistics warehouse in the Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai.
Zhao Yihuai, deputy director of Lin-gang Special Area Administration, said the arrival of the latest Maersk project demonstrated the confidence of international groups in the development of the Lin-gang Special Area.
Zhao added that Lin-gang was looking forwards to all-round strategic cooperation with Maersk and it would improve the business environment for its enterprises.
The flagship warehouse will cover an area of about 110,000 square meters, with a designed storage area of about 150,000 sq m. This will include four high-standard warehouses with three levels of ramps and a 24-meter-high automatic intelligent warehouse equipped with an automated storage and retrieval system. This can provide a wide variety of value-added services, including cross-border e-commerce logistics and international transit collection.
Maersk signed a land transfer contract with the Lin-gang Special Area Administration for the flagship warehouse project in December 2022, which is expected to start operating in the third quarter of 2024.
