Abundant medical resources

The reason why the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone (Lecheng Pilot Zone) can attract international medical consumption is that it has gradually transformed from a policy platform to an industrial platform, gathering quality medical resources and providing strong support for the improvement of medical treatment.

The zone received 127,300 medical tourists in 2021, and 189,000 in 2022, at annual growth rates of 90.6 percent and 48.5 percent. The number of patients using licensed drugs and medical services in 2021 and 2022 was 9,963 and 17,853 respectively, with annual growth rates of 483.3 percent and 79 percent.

More and more patients decide to take medical treatments in the Lecheng Pilot Zone because of its accumulated quality medical resources such as top expert teams, domestic and overseas medical institutions, and latest international treatment methods.

Mr Wang from Guizhou province suffered from primary massive liver cancer that could not be removed surgically. After learning that the Lecheng Pilot Zone had introduced the international innovative liver cancer treatment technology based on an Yttrium 90 glass microsphere, Wang applied for medical treatment. Not long ago, Wang received Yttrium 90 glass microsphere surgery carried out by Teng Gaojun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University.

Four academicians and experts have so far carried out many Yttrium 90 glass microsphere therapy surgeries at Boao Super Hospital. This technology has been applied in normal treatment at the Lecheng Pilot Zone, prolonging the lives of many patients.
