1st Boao International Conference on Real World Studies of Medical Products held in Hainan

Hosted by the People's Government of Hainan Province and supported by the National Medical Products Administration, the 1st Boao International Conference on Real World Studies of Medical Products was held in Boao, Hainan province, on December 8.

With the theme of "Real World Data Studies and Innovative Development and Supervision of Medical Products", the conference gathered domestic and overseas representatives from governments, industries, universities and research institutes to share their ideas.

Since the launching of the clinical real world data application pilot work in June 2019, the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone (Lecheng Pilot Zone) has established in-depth cooperation with more than 80 medical products corporations in 16 countries and regions, introducing over 270 kinds of imported medical products greatly needed for clinic use. Nine medical products have been approved for listing in China by using Lecheng real world data to supplement clinical evaluation.

Feng Fei, governor of Hainan province said that this conference expanded and deepened Hainan’s cooperation with all parties and was a new start for the future of the Hainan Free Trade Port. It pushed forward the Lecheng Pilot Zone to become a new highland for real world study and also promoted the study as a new engine for the development of China's pharmaceutical industry.

The conference held eight parallel forums, focusing on real world data studies and special diseases, biostatistics, information technology, health care economics, medicine studies, medical instrument studies, the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the post-marketing safety evaluation of medical devices.

In order to give full play to its advantages in policies and the resources of the zone, Hainan provincial government selected Boao as the permanent site for the annual Boao International Conference on the Real World Studies of Medical Products with the support of the National Medical Products Administration.
