The planned Asia Pacific headquarters of US conveyor belt manufacturer Intralox LLC broke ground recently, in the Songjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in East China's Shanghai city.

Intralox is a global leader in conveyor belts and automation equipment and several years ago it built a conveyor equipment manufacturing plant in Songjiang.

With increasing market demand, the group plans to increase investment and the construction of the Asia Pacific HQ in Songjiang reflects those ambitions.

The HQ, to cost about 940 million yuan ($136.49 million), will integrate production, research and development, testing and office space.

"We have had a special bond with Songjiang for many years," said Jude Barbin, Intralox's Asia Pacific operations director. He said the company was confident about the zone's business environment and policies.
