Hainan International Medical Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine

Hainan International Medical Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is a key provincial project to provide human and intellectual support for the construction of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics and the creation of a healthy Hainan. The cooperation agreement was signed by and betweenthe Administration of the Lecheng Pilot Zone and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine on December 17, 2021.

The establishment of Shanghai Jiaotong University School Of Medicine Hainan International Medical Center in Lecheng was an important milestone in the process of reform and development of Lecheng Pilot Zone, which injected a strong impetus to speed up the promotion of Sino-foreign cooperation projects and built an integrated development pattern of medicine, education and research in Lecheng Pilot Zone.

The center will focus on training medical talents by bringing in high-level overseas talents, building a high-level faculty, and providing high-quality teaching programs to train first-class medical innovators for Hainan and China. In 2021, a pilot program in basic medicine and public health and preventive medicine has been launched, with 8 doctoral students and 8 master's students enrolled.
