Hainan Lecheng promotion conference held in Copenhagen

A promotion conference for Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone (Lecheng Pilot Zone) was held in Copenhagen, Denmark on Oct 12-13.

The conference focused on the policy advantages, achievements,   as well as development opportunities provided by the Hainan FTP and Lecheng Pilot Zone.

Organized by the Hainan Provincial Government, this conference was part of the Hainan delegation’s visit to Denmark. They aimed to promote cultural, tourism and biopharmaceutical exchanges. Representatives from the Lecheng Pilot Zone Administration and local medical institutions formed an investment promotion team to join the delegation and explore potential collaborations with Danish pharmaceutical companies and institutions.

During the conference, Lecheng Pilot Zone Administration, the Danish Life Science Cluster and the Nordic Life Science Partners (NLSP) signed a strategic cooperation agreement, aimed at strengthening cooperation in fields such as healthcare and the introduction of innovative drugs and medical devices.

Representatives from over 30 international leading pharmaceutical and medical device companies, innovative technology associations and incubators, such as ALK, NLSP and Danish Life Science Cluster, gathered   to exchange views with the Hainan delegation on mutually beneficial cooperation in healthcare.

Denmark boasts advanced medical technology, high-quality medical services, and excellent research and development capabilities in the field of healthcare. Hainan FTP, on the other hand, is pivotal in China's medical tourism strategy, featuring unique natural environment, superior tourism resources, and preferential medical policies granted by the Chinese government. As Hainan's biopharmaceutical industry thrives and the business environment improves, Denmark and Hainan can utilize their respective strengths and engage in healthcare cooperation   to bring more opportunities to the two sides.

Following the promotion conference, the Lecheng investment promotion team visited local pharmaceutical companies and related institutions in Denmark.

Xie Jing, vice-governor of Hainan province, led the team to visit Healthcare Denmark. She presented an overview of the Hainan FTP, tax preferential policies and the development of the biomedical industry. She hopes the two sides can carry out further cooperation in areas like introduction of medical institutions, implementation of innovative medical technologies and products, medical exchanges, talent cultivation, and real world study, capitalizing on the development opportunities within the Hainan FTP.

The representative from Healthcare Denmark said that the booming Hainan FTP construction has brought significant opportunities to multinational pharmaceutical and medical device companies. It also expressed commitment to further concentrate on  Hainan and Lecheng, leveraging the unique policy and geographical advantages of the Hainan FTP and Lecheng for enhanced collaboration prospects.

The team also visited ALK. Xie expressed hope for ALK to expand investments in Hainan and encouraged deeper cooperation in implementing innovative products and medical technologies, real world study, doctor-patient education and medical-industrial transformation. She proposed taking advantage of the policy advantages of Hainan FTP and Lecheng Pilot Zone. This way, ALK can share the development opportunities of Hainan FTP and the Chinese medical market.

ALK expressed its unwavering confidence in the huge potential of the Chinese market and the future development of Hainan FTP and Lecheng. The company is anticipating further cooperation with Hainan and Lecheng to deepen its industrial layout and contribute its share to the building of a healthy China.

Going forward, Lecheng Pilot Zone will deepen international collaboration by partnering with global pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and excellent expert teams, including those from Denmark. It will continue to introduce   high-quality medical resources and advanced medical technologies, accelerate the entry of international innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices into the Chinese market, so as to deliver more benefits to the public and build Hainan FTP into a highland of China’s medical innovation.
