The Changxing Island Economic and Technological Development Zone is strategically prioritizing the advancement of its energy industry. This includes fast-tracking the development of distributed wind power projects and leveraging green electricity for seawater electrolysis hydrogen production and energy storage.

Furthermore, the island is pioneering a groundbreaking rural complex model, seamlessly integrating complementary agriculture, light industries, fisheries, and sideline enterprises. Tailored photovoltaic projects, such as agricultural and fishery light complementation, are also underway to harness the full potential of local conditions.

Anticipated by 2025, these concerted efforts are poised to yield significant outcomes. With an expected annual power generation of 8.7 billion kWh and an annual output value approaching 5 billion yuan ($690 million), the island's trajectory is set to propel the formation of a resilient industrial cluster valued at 20 billion yuan.

Leveraging its prime deep-water coastline resources in Bohai Bay, Changxing Island serves as a vital combined port for Dalian's strategic vision to establish the Northeast Asia International Shipping Center. Ranked as the second largest port cluster in Dalian, the island benefits from extensive rail and highway connections linking it to the Northeast region. This infrastructure supports a robust land-sea-rail transport system, connecting Northeast provinces and East Inner Mongolia while extending its influence across Japan, South Korea, and Russia.

Building upon these strategic advantages, Changxing Island is accelerating the layout and construction of green hydrogen and its derivative energy ventures. This includes the production, storage, transportation, trading, and refueling of green methanol, green ammonia, and green aviation kerosene. Moreover, enhancements to the Dalian international oil and gas center chain are underway, alongside the establishment of a Northeast Asia hydrogen-based energy center and a pivotal sea-land channel.
