Port logistics industry

The Changxing Island Port Logistics Industrial Park, situated on the Southwest side of Changxing Island, spans a planned area of 11 square kilometers.

The Changxing Island Economic and Technological Development Zone leverages its excellent deep-water port and unique island conditions to drive development and expansion. Key initiatives include applying to become a comprehensive bonded zone and other strategic actions to enhance its openness and economic integration.

The zone will focus on accelerating the construction of port infrastructure, improving its collection and distribution systems, and expanding its external road network. By broadening port functions, Changxing Island aims to establish itself as a national energy strategic reserve base and a major logistics storage and transportation hub.

The ambitious "Island of 100 Ports" (One Island with One Hundred Ports) project will be expedited to achieve a port throughput of 100 million tons by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25). This initiative aims to create a port and shipping logistics industry cluster with an economic scale of 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion).

Changxing Island aspires to become a key port area for Dalian's Northeast Asia International Shipping Center. It will primarily support the petrochemical and port-related industries, focusing on the development of large-scale, intensive, and modern specialized terminals. The goal is to create a first-class, port-centric industrial cluster and a public terminal that seamlessly integrates ports, industries, and urban development.

Changxing Island plans to feature 171 berths, with 43 already constructed to handle oil products, bulk cargo, as well as ship repairs and construction. This includes four berths at the Changxing Island Public Wharf. The port area also hosts an inspection and quarantine base for imported timber, along with such projects as a timber import base and mining machinery facilities.
