"Low-carbon" and "green" have been the buzzwords of the fourth China International Import Expo as major companies from various industries exhibited their eco-friendly products and sustainable solutions and made pledges regarding carbon neutrality.
During the Epson Innovation Day held at the CIIE venue on Nov 8, Akihiro Fukaishi, president of Epson China, released three key strategies related to eco-friendly initiatives, digital transformation and cooperation with local partners.
"We are committed to using 100 percent renewable electric energy for the entire Epson global group by 2023, and are aiming at achieve a carbon-negative and underground-resource free status by 2050," he said about the company's Epson Environmental Vision 2050.
Fukaishi said the company's factory in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, has already introduced new technologies that have helped reduce the volume of waste ink generated every year by 480 metric tons.
Chen Xiaohui, president of Danish biotechnology company Novozymes' Chinese branch, said that the company will invest 13 to 14 percent of its total revenue in China into the research and development of green technology.
"We hope to help our customers from various trades and industries by using specific solutions that result in carbon emissions reductions in their production process," she said.
As the world's major producer of industrial enzymes, the company's products had reduced carbon emissions in 2019 by 87 million tons, according to Chen.
