On April 6, the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration issued a permit to the Hainan CIMC Raffles Company, showing that the company had completed its safety management system audit successfully, and now is able to begin global ocean engineering shipping safety and pollution management.
This is the first wholly foreign owned shipping company to be registered in Hainan since the publication of the Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, as well as the first permit issued to a wholly foreign owned shipping management company since the construction of the Hainan FTP Maritime Affairs Special Administrative Region, which shows that the benefits of the Hainan Free Trade Port Policies have become even more accessible, and continue to attract global shipping companies to gather in Hainan.
According to a representative from the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration, the authority will further facilitate the audit certification process and reduce operating costs for the shipping companies, attracting more companies as well as ships to be registered in Hainan.
