Sanya is expected to receive 400,000 couples for wedding photographs in 2021, and the revenue will reach 12 billion yuan ($1.85 billion), according to Xu Wei, president of the Sanya Wedding Tourism Association. Wedding tourism has become a new engine that's leading the development of Sanya's tourism industry.
Sanya has been actively building a world-renowned wedding tourism and vacation destination in recent years. Sanya's current wedding tourism mainly includes four categories: wedding photography, the wedding ceremony, honeymoon tourism, and duty-free wedding products shopping.
Xu said, "Sanya has unique advantages in developing wedding tourism. For example, we have a beautiful sea and beach, and a climate that can hold weddings all year round." He added that Sanya's scenic spots and high-end hotels also provide wedding tourism with good resources and conditions.
Daxiao Dongtian Park is one of the first batch of tourism wedding photography bases in Sanya. In 2020, the park redesigned and optimized its base to create 32 shooting scenes, which are integrated within a coconut grove, the beach, and the sea.
In order to better serve guests and enhance their photo experience, the park created rest areas and dressing rooms. It also provides services, such as a dedicated parking lot for wedding photography, a one-to-one battery car shuttle and fast food delivery, aiming to create a "one-stop" wedding photography base.

Tianya Haijiao Tourist Zone has built distinctive wedding venues like the seaside wedding halls and forest wedding venues, which meet the different needs of couples for wedding photography, honeymoons, and wedding ceremonies.
Tianya Haijiao has also built new love-themed landscapes, which include seaside love houses, bird's nest buildings, seaside swings, and hammocks. These products are very popular among wedding couples.
There are currently over 300 wedding photography agencies, over 50 wedding planning companies, and nearly 100 honeymoon resort hotels in Sanya, with more than 10,000 employees.
In the second half of 2021, Sanya will host wedding tourism events, such as the 25th China Sanya Tianya Haijiao International Wedding Festival and the 3rd Global Wedding and Honeymoon Island Forum, to further expand Sanya as a world-renowned wedding tourism destination.
