Hainan held an economic and trade cooperation promotion meeting with an Austrian business delegation in Haikou recently, detailing Hainan's economic development and the Hainan Free Trade Port's policy advantages.
The Austrian business delegation was led by Birgit Murr, the commercial consul of the Austrian consulate-general in Chengdu and the head of the Commercial Department of the Austrian consulate-general in Guangzhou. Representatives of more than 10 companies, including Raiffeisen Bank International, Commend, Oberndorfer, Vamed, and Riedel, participated in the meeting.
The promotion meeting was hosted by the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce. Officials from the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone administration, the Wenchang International Aerospace City administration, and the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development made recommendations at the meeting.
Riedel is a well-known professional crystal wine glass and decanter manufacturer in Austria. "We hope to open up sales channels in Hainan through this inspection tour," said Sheng Lei, managing director of Reidel China.
"Austrian companies are very interested in the construction of the Hainan FTP, and there is room for cooperation in many fields," Murr said. She added that Austria has many well-known brands in luxury goods, which can strengthen cooperation with Hainan in business and trade fields. Murr also noted that Austria also has advantages in catering, hotels, and personnel training that can lead to deeper cooperation with Hainan.
