The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province recently issued a three-year (2022-24) action plan, which states that the province will focus on the development of tropical agricultural industries in the next three years, with the goal of cultivating and developing the whole industrial chain of 17 agricultural industries.
The goal of developing 17 tropical agricultural industry chains will be implemented in three steps. By the end of this year, Hainan will establish a coordinated promotion mechanism for agricultural industrial chain development, as well as carry out pilot projects with mango, Wenchang chicken, natural rubber, and the Nanfan seed industry as the leading industries.
The full implementation stage will take place from January 2023 to October 2024, in which 13 industries' implementation plans will be introduced, covering the rice, winter vegetables, aquaculture, sugar cane, betel nut, pepper, coffee, lychee, dragon fruit, pineapple, honeydew melon, durian, and tea industries.
By the end of 2024, a modern agricultural industrial system will be basically formed. The province will summarize the experiences and achievements of the 17 industrial chains, then gradually apply it to other industries in the fields of planting, animal husbandry, as well as aquaculture.
