Sanya was selected as one of the first national pilot cities for culture and tourism in 2020. In the past two years, Sanya has carried out a number of promotional activities focusing on wedding tourism, marine sightseeing, their night-time economy, rural tourism, and shopping to stimulate tourism market consumption.
Focusing on new business forms and hotspots such as camping, fairs and duty-free shopping, Sanya's tourism and cultural departments along with local enterprises have carried out a series of activities to further develop tourism and cultural consumption and to tap into potential and emerging markets.
Night economy has become the main growth point in Sanya's tourism consumption. This year, Sanya has selected the top 10 landmarks to see at night. This list included Sanya Haichang Fantasy, Yiheng Night Market and Fenghuangling Park.
In addition, the city also selected 10 cultural tourism consumption benchmarks, including Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area, Sanya Luhuitou Scenic Area and Atlantis Sanya. At the same time, 10 urban tourism characteristic blocks were selected, including Sanya First Market and Haitang 68 Global Food Street.
"These selections are important for Sanya to develop as a pilot city for national culture and tourism. We renovated a number of resorts, and are making them play an exemplary role to improve Sanya's brand awareness and reputation in tourism and culture," said Zhu Jingwei, an official of the Sanya municipal bureau of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports.
Next, Sanya will create a number of new cultural and tourism consumption clusters and promote industrial integration by focusing on cultivating business types, enriching products, improving services, developing holiday and night economy, increasing marketing and optimizing the environment.
