A total of 53 investment and financing deals have been clinched by the alcohol industry so far this year in China. It is an increase of 11 percent year-on-year, according to official data released at the 2022 Alcohol Innovation and Investment Conference held in Haikou on Dec 21 and 22.
"The alcohol sector is a very important part of China's light industry. Our monitoring of the investment institutions shows that the alcohol sector remains one of the most favored industries among investors in the country,” Li Guodu, chairman of the China Light Industry Enterprise Investment Development Association, said in a keynote speech.
The conference attracted more than 400 officials, experts and professionals from six countries. It was hosted by the China National Association for Liquor and Spirits Circulation, the Hainan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the HIMICE Media Group.
Dumitru Braghis, Moldovan ambassador to China, and Mbelwa Brighton Kairuki, Tanzanian ambassador to China, shared the latest development of the alcohol industries in their respective countries and discussed their potential viability in the China market.
The conference was a platform to promote the industry and at the same time help develop the Hainan Free Trade Port into a transit hub for the import and export of liquor products, according to officials.
The second phase of the conference, to be held at the same venue from Feb 20 to 23, 2023, is projecting about 3,000 participants. It will offer a variety of activities, such as the exhibition of new products, venture capital and trade talks, contests and forums. Hot issues such as liquor and investment, scientific and technological innovation, creative marketing, and efforts targeting carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals will be discussed, the organizers said.
