Sanya Aquatic Seedlings Nanfan Ecological Industrial Park began trial operation on May 19.
The industrial park covers an area of 158.4 mu (10.56 hectares), with a total investment of 400 million yuan ($57 million). It is committed to becoming an aquatic industry park that integrates scientific research, production, sales, scientific and technological exchange, and achievement transformation.
The park has established facilities such as a global introduction and isolation center, a three-dimensional fish breeding workshop, a nursery workshop, an intermediate breeding workshop, a shellfish nursery workshop, a marine animal rescue center, and a science education center.
After the project is fully put into operation, it is expected to cultivate 2.5 billion fish hatchlings and 2 billion shellfish hatchlings annually, which will create more than 100 job positions. The total output value of the industrial chain is expected to reach over 500 million yuan.
Zhao Lei, general manager of Sanya Yazhou Bay Agriculture and Fisheries Development, introduced that the industrial park will provide high-quality seawater seedlings and technical services. While the park will help accelerate the development of Nanfan seed industry, it will also build an integrated platform for production, teaching and research. Additionally, it will become a global aquatic germplasm resource protection and breeding base.
