Sanya's total import and export volume hit 13.93 billion yuan ($1.9 billion) in the first half of this year, up 15.7 percent year-on-year and accounting for 12.1 percent of Hainan province's total, announced Sanya Customs.
Specifically, Sanya's goods exports from January to June amounted to 1.35 billion yuan, up 68.4 percent year-on-year, while its imports increased by 11.9 percent to reach 12.58 billion yuan.
In the first half of the year, Sanya imported duty-free goods to the value of 5.92 billion yuan, an increase of 8.8 percent and accounting for 42.5 percent of the city's total import and export value.
During this period, the import and export volume of State-owned enterprises in Sanya was 9.92 billion yuan, down 7.1 percent. The import and export of Sanya's private enterprises reached 4.01 billion yuan, an increase of 1.9 times and accounting for 28.8 percent of the city's total. The import and export of foreign-invested enterprises in the city reached 4.96 million yuan, an increase of 1.5 times.
The European Union, Switzerland and Japan were Sanya's top three trading partners from January to June.
Beauty cosmetics and toiletries were the main imported products, accounting for 36.7 percent of the city's total import value. Mechanical and electrical products were Sanya's main export commodities, accounting for 72 percent of the city's total export value.
