The 2nd China (Hainan) International Watermelon and Melon Industry Development Conference and Tianya Honeydew Summit will be held in Sanya from Jan 11 to 14, 2024.
These events will take place in one main venue and two sub-venues. Other activities will also take place during this time, namely some watermelon and melon variety roadshows, retail selection meetings, germplasm resource exhibitions, professional evaluation forums, supply-demand matchmaking sessions, and industry development forums.
These events aim to showcase the achievements of Hainan's watermelon and melon industries, as well as to create an important platform for technological exchange, experience sharing, and industry cooperation.
With its superior natural conditions and policy environment, Hainan has become the core region for Nanfan seed breeding. It has also become a national winter green vegetable production and distribution base.
With a planting area of 120,000 mu (8,000 hectares) and nearly 160,000 employees, Hainan's watermelon and melon industry has an output value that exceeds 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion). It has become Hainan's second-largest agricultural industry, after mango production.
