The 2024 Asian Seed Congress or ASC will be held in Sanya on Dec 2-6, with the theme of "Rising the Wave of Growth in the Asia Pacific".
It marks the first time in a decade that China will host the congress. Industry representatives from around the world will gather to discuss the development strategies for the Asian seed industry.
In addition to the opening ceremony and news conference, the congress will feature closed-door meetings, committee meetings, the China Seed Industry Investment Opportunity Forum, the 30th Anniversary Forum of the Asia and Pacific Seed Association or APSA, trade negotiations, exhibitions and post-conference assessments.
Attendees will visit agriculture demonstration bases, laboratories and the Industrial Promotion Center of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, aiming to provide a deeper understanding of the "Nanfan Silicon Valley".
A new addition to this year's congress is the China Investment Opportunity Seminar, which will feature expert analysis of China's seed industry policies and the Hainan Free Trade Port's seed industry policies.
To date, 1,524 participants from 52 countries and regions have registered, setting a record for attendance. Of these, 467 are Chinese delegates and 1,057 are foreign delegates, highlighting the international appeal of the congress.
Established in 1994 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Danish International Development Agency, the APSA aims to promote the production and sale of high-quality seeds in the Asia-Pacific region.
The annual Asian Seed Congress is regarded as one of the largest and most important seed industry events globally, often referred to as the "Asian Games" of the seed industry.
