Sanya to explore Australia, New Zealand tourism markets

Updated: english.sanya.gov.cn

Sanya is stepping up efforts to expand its international tourism market, with a focus on Australia and New Zealand.

From March 25–26, the Sanya Tourism Board attended Routes Asia in Perth, a key aviation networking event, and conducted promotional activities to boost travel links between Sanya and the Oceania region.

The Sanya delegation engaged with representatives from airlines, airports, and travel agencies to discuss potential new flight routes and the development of integrated aviation-tourism packages. Following the conference, the Tourism Board, in partnership with Hainan Airport Group, Hainan Airlines, and other industry partners, conducted a tourism roadshow in Sydney. This event highlighted Sanya's natural beauty, cultural attractions, and premium travel offerings while unveiling customized tour packages that integrate leisure, entertainment, and sports activities.

Further meetings with local travel agencies allowed Sanya's representatives to assess market preferences and explore opportunities for customized tourism products and joint marketing initiatives.

Australia and New Zealand are emerging as key markets for Sanya. In 2025, the city has already promoted inbound tourism at major global events like ITB Berlin and Moscow's MITT Expo. Sanya plans to deepen international engagement through continued participation in trade fairs, targeted promotions, and industry collaborations.
