From January to April Sanya's service trade volume reached 4.13 billion yuan ($574.04 million), a 29.41 percent increase from the previous year, accompanied by a trade surplus of 30.36 billion yuan.
Service exports rose by 52.71 percent to 3.59 billion yuan, driven by strong global demand. Tourism was the leading sector, contributing 70.45 percent of total trade at 2.91 billion yuan, with inbound travel seeing a 120 percent increase in exports. Meanwhile, transport services expanded across five continents, supported by new high-value enterprises.
Emerging sectors like intellectual property and insurance gained momentum, increasing by 45.76 percent and 87.77 percent, respectively. Russia and Serbia have emerged as key growth markets for expansion, with trade volumes increasing by 753 percent and 335 percent, respectively.
Sanya is collaborating with 74 global partners to diversify its offerings in digital and financial services while deepening ties with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, according to a city commerce official.
