In 2019, the value added of Hainan's modern services industry reached 141.66 billion yuan ($21.62 billion), up 8.7 percent year-on-year, contributing 40 percent of GDP growth and driving GDP to grow by 2.3 percent. The number of market entities in the modern services industry hit 746,000, a rise of 21.7 percent year-on-year.

(1) Sanya "National Seashore" Haitang Bay Modern Service Industrial Park
After more than a decade of rapid development, the international leisure resort has attracted more than 30 international-brand hotels and nurtured events such as the Hainan International Film Festival and the Sanya International Beach Electronic Music Festival. Sanya International Duty-Free City, Sanya Atlantis, Wuzhizhou Island, Haichang Fantasy Town and other innovative tourism attractions are exerting their gathering effects. (2) Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Area
In 2020, the total value of foreign trade in the zone reached 23.31 billion yuan, surging 193.2 percent year-on-year. By the end of December 2020, 681 enterprises and 221 cross-border e-commerce companies had registered in the zone. In 2020, the Customs of Macun port released a total of 1.25 million bonded import declaration lists for cross-border e-commerce with a total value of 526 million yuan, skyrocketing 635.3 percent and 672.9 percent year-on-year.
(3) Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone
The pilot zone focuses on developing medical and healthcare industries, including franchise healthcare, health management, rehabilitation, medical beauty and anti-aging services, and international medical tourism. It aims to attract international and domestic high-end medical tourism service providers and global cutting-edge medical technologies, and build an international medical-technology service industry cluster.
(4) Sanya Central Business District
